July 20-25 is the Anoka County Fair 

After a hiatus last year due to the pandemic, the Anoka County Fair is back and scheduled to run Tuesday, July 20, through Sunday, July 25. The board invited Mike Ahlers, president of the Anoka County Fair Board, to talk about what to expect at this year’s fair. Commissioner Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners, also noted that the public is invited to attend the flag raising ceremony at noon on the first day of the fair. Affirmative Action Policy Statement Adopted

The board adopted a resolution of affirmative action in employment and equal opportunity policy statement. This statement reflects that Anoka County is committed to the principles of equal employment opportunity. To read the full statement, click HERE.

Employee Engagement and Inclusion Committee Established

The board adopted a resolution establishing the Employee Engagement and Inclusion Committee; this action dissolved the Focus Communications Program and restructured the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The Employee Engagement and Inclusion Committee will perform expanded duties and functions, as assigned, aimed at promoting diversity in hiring and retention and promoting respect, inclusion, employee engagement, and employee morale within the workplace. MnDOT funding Sought for Enhanced Mobility Study

The board approved a grant funding application to MnDOT to study transportation services for enhanced mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities. For more information on this item, click HERE.

Anoka County Receives Highest Possible Rating in Audit Report

The Office of the State Auditor reviewed the 2020 Management and Compliance Report for Anoka County and gave the county an unmodified opinion, which is the highest rating attainable. There were no reported concerns. To watch the video on this item, click HERE.

Parks Selling Firewood in September, October

Due to a surplus of firewood from the Anoka County Parks forest management operations, Parks will be selling fireplace cords of wood (1/3 of a full cord) during September and October. Each cord will be $90, and those who purchase must load and haul the wood away themselves. Chomonix Golf Course Doing Well After 3-Year Improvement Plan 

The board received an update on the status of Chomonix Golf Course in Lino Lakes from Parks Director Jeff Perry. The course is at the end of a 3-year improvement plan, and it’s doing well: revenues are up, expenditures are down, and there is a demonstration of success and stability in the current operations at Chomonix.
